RMG Meeting in Zurich in November 2006

Overview
7 November 2006 - The ISO 20022 Registration Management Group (RMG) convened for the third and final time this year on 2 and 3 November in Zürich, Switzerland.  Thirteen countries and seven liaison organisations were represented, along with representatives from the Registration Authority (RA - SWIFT) and three of the four Standards Evaluation Groups (SEGs).

Message Status
There are already 71 fullly approved UNIFI messages available and another 74 candidate messages that are being reviewed and finalised by the SEGs later this year and in early 2007 (including 15 new forex messages, 44 messages in the securities pre-trade area, 12 messages for investment funds distribution and 3 related to invoice bank-to-customer advices and statements). In addition, there are six new candidate messages sets under development to be evaluated by the SEGs in 2007.

Workflow and Process
Four new business justifications were submitted for approval since the last RMG meeting. Given the large amount of development work foreseen for 2007, the RMG discussed and decided to formalise some additional requirements for the submission of new business justifications going forward. The RMG also heard updates on a variety of topics, including an update from Working Group 4 related to their work on improving the architecture and design aspects of UNIFI.

Implementation
UNIFI messages are beginning to be implemented around the globe and there is certainly some anticipation leading up to the implementation of SEPA (Single Euro Payments Area) in 2008 -- which will utilise the UNIFI payment messages. More news to come later this year on additional implementations of UNIFI messages. The RMG agreed that their next meeting would be held in New York in May of 2007.
